I previously mentioned that my lovely boy completely surprised me with some really lovely gifts when I was over for tea the other day: they're such wonderful and really useful things - I was so excited I wanted to share them with you all (:

I've always, always wanted to learn French and go to Paris. I'm going to commence this three month challenge in March giving me exactly three months before my 21st birthday - when I will, hopefully, be going to Paris and be fluent in basic French. An additional bonus is that the educational language set is from my one of my favourite publishers Dorling Kindersley, where I was fortunate enough to intern at last year.

My other two gifts were a hand held sewing machine and a deluxe sewing box - I didn't really enjoy my course last term and feel really creatively restricted. Which is one of the reason's behind starting my blog. When I was interning at DK I was able to scan a copy of the Cath Kidston sew and make booklet 1 and 2, which were available in one of the Sunday paper's. I've been accumulating fabrics, pins and ideas since. Now my shifts are settling down i'll hopefully have some spare time in which I can take a break from reading set texts and essays and make some lovely bits (: Also I recently purchased Eithane Farry's 'Lovely things to make for girls of slender means' in the Boots sale for £3! Such a bargain! It's really educational - with advice on stitch craft and seems to be the perfect book to accompany a new starter. I particularly like how the contents is split into the four seasons; making each project really accessible. I'll be doing some posts once I've got some time and am quite familiar with sewing!
