14 pieces you need in your wardrobe this Spring

Summer's fast approaching bringing with it the humdrum of new season colours, cuts and cult trends. I've compiled an easy, stoppable edit of my fourteen favourite pieces that are sure to see you till next summer.

1, Raw hem jeans
Whether you've diy-ed a raw hem for yourself (a ruler and some sandpaper are my go-to for distressed hems) or have purchased a love-worn pre-unhemmed style in store, thanks to Rachel Comey and Vetements the SS15 trend is set to continue into 2016.

With our beloved skinny jeans being systematically sacked off this season with kick flare, straight leg, cropped styles and culottes replacements (more on these here!) opting for and purchasing a raw hem style is a great way to re-approach your denim. Working as well with trainers as they do heels, a more relaxed fit enables you to easily dress your denim up or down, with brogues or boots.

2, Granny shoes
Add a little retro spin to your new season staples with a pair of '80s inspired glove shoes. Feminine and super versatile, they're the perfect height for long days and evenings out. Style yours with everything from your favourite raw hem jeans and cross-body bags to dainty spring dresses and colourful knits.

3, Cross body bag
Easy to wear and available in a multitude of shades and sizes they're not only are they hands-free but an easy way to update any outfit. Super functional, the compact size of these styles encourages you to limit your daily essentials: ensuring that you don't end up lugging around everything but the kitchen sink! If you're looking to invest in a high-end style I'd recommend picking a timeless colour to ensure that you get the maximum wear from your new designer staple.

4, Bomber jacket

The bomber jacket has been back in favour for a while now, but with updated options available across the high street there's never been a better time to get involved. This spring opt for a colour pop satin style that's either printed, embellished or embroidered: detailing is key this season. Wear yours with a plain white tee and kick-flare jeans.

5, Metallic shoes

I currently find anything and everything iridescent totally irresistible, this post being case and point. Shiny shoes are such an easy way to add a little spring sparkle into your wardrobe, brightening up the gloomiest April Showers.

6, Pink roll neck

So *disclaimer alert* I don't actually own a pink roll neck, but...I really, really want one. Mainly this Uterque style (that I borrowed from my pal Alice) but I'm pretty open to other options as a pop of pink is always welcome in my wardrobe. Not only is a roll neck a really functional and flattering style but it's a super practical layering piece for chilly spring days.

7, Slip dress
When I was in LA (sob that I'm not anymore) I wore a slip dress basically every other day. They're light, super easy to style and can transition from day-to-night like nothing else - you can layer the style, sporting a grey/white/black/breton tee or roll neck underneath. Opt for clean silhouettes and absolute minimal lace detailing to avoid looking like your wearing lingerie.

8, Prairie blouse
This traditionally folk-inspired top has been toughened up for SS16, with ruffles, embroidery and fringing. Zara (as always) have the best variety here but there's currently £20 off this dreamy Miss Selfridge style!

9, Mules

Opt for styles with a manageable small block heel in a fun colour-ways to brighten up your Spring wardrobe. Office have a great variety of styles: I'll be wearing mine with cropped jeans and summer dresses.

10, Statement earrings
Whether you want to simply update your go-to Breton and jeans combo or are looking to accessorize a spring wedding outfit a pair of statement earrings goes a long way.

11, Updated white shirt/ruffle blouses

Catch up on why this season's updated white shirt got me excited and shop my three high street favourites here. Because I've kinda already covered this one I've cheekily combined it with the ruffled blouse. Victorian-inspired high neck styles are set to hit a whole new level of popularity when the 'Harry' blouse drops in-store at Marks & Spencer's (register interest in the style here), the highly anticipated Archive by Alexa collection is the high street collaboration to get involved with. Sure to make every outfit feel polished - wear yours with boyfriend jeans on the weekends.

12, Backpack

Backpacks are a touchy subject for me, as a commuter, I have a deep hatred for the spatially unaware people who get way too close for comfort on the tube: they're always carrying absurdly sized styles and I've been barged on one too many occasions. However, thanks to Burberry, Christopher Kane and Paul Smith - the versatile classic has been made over, styles are more directional with quirky prints and buckles adorning the coolest styles.

13, Backless shoes
Sliced back or entirely backless styles are one of the hottest trends this spring, seen on catwalks everywhere from Acne to Balenciaga. I love how curiously versatile the style is, some come entirely backless whilst others are designed with a collapsible heel: enabling you to transform them into a relaxed slip-on-style with total ease. I'll be wearing mine with a ruffle shirt and jeans.

14, Off-shoulder top

An off-the-shoulder silhouette is Spring's most seductive, yet demure trend. Optimise your tanning potential with a 'Bardot' top: shop and see my high street favourites here...
