The Coat Edit: Parkas

Faux-fur trim hooded Parka, Marks & Spencer; Breton tee, Asos; Step-hem jeans, Topshop;

I received so many lovely comments from my Winter Coat Edit that I thought I'd dedicate a little post to a classic coat that's finally won me over.

Whilst I've always quite liked the Parka, it's never been a style I've coveted: mainly due to my belief that'd it'd be far too chunky for the commute to work. However, I'd entirely looked it over as a snug and practical weekend option and since spotting and after purchasing this dreamy Dark Green option in-store it's quickly become a mainstay in my wardrobe.

An everlasting, always on-trend shape, this one's cut for a relaxed, loose fit with a drawstring waist giving you the option to add definition. With M&S' Stormwear technology to keep you warm and dry all winter long it's definitely worth the investment.

Layer yours over weekend staples for walks in the park.

Trending: Cosmic

Shirt, Very; Belt, Topshop; Denim culottes, Urban Outfitters; Edie mini bag, Lulu Guinness

Galactic inspired prints and embroidery were a lovely little micro trend that was seen all across the AW16 catwalks: from J.W. Anderson's planetary inspired silhouettes to McQueen's all-out galactic embellishment. This of course means that the trusty high street has tapped into this trend with super wearable and affordable pieces dropping online and in-store right now...

It's very easy to see why everyone's getting a little starry-eyed over cosmic-inspired transitional trend-lead pieces. Not only are they great for the impending party season - so many are versatile enough to wear casually throughout the day with dressed down denim and trainers, dressing up with heels and glitzy starry jewellery by night.

Shop a few of my favourite new-in styles below, to tap into that covetable cosmos look...
Clockwise from top left: Star print playsuit, £46, Topshop; Cosmic ankle boots, £34.99, Daisy Street; Pyjama style top, £22, Nobody's Child; Embellished jumper, £32, River Island; Star embellished mesh dress, £60, River Island; Printed silk scarf, £155, Marc Jacobs

Key coat trends for AW16:

October's here and it's now totally fine to get excited about buying and wearing winter coats... As a rule, I tend to treat myself to one coat a winter. However, last year that got totally out of hand and I ended up getting at least three. I admit it, I have a serious coat problem.

A coat, to me, is so much more than a jacket or object of outerwear. It's something that can absolutely transform a look, your top-to-toe Primark look can be entirely elevated by a great coat.

I spotted and immediately purchased this dreamy beige oversized-number from H&M, it's since sold out online but I think there's still a few instore if you think it's the one for you.
