Trending: Summer sliders

Denim sandals, Ancient Greek

They're not exactly fashion's new flat, but the slider is undoubtedly a summer staple. Wholeheartedly effortless you can wear them with absolute ease whether you're popping to the shops or pool.

Whilst I love the clean athletic lines of the 90s vibe classic slides, I'm a little obsessed with the new-season furry styles too and am keen to get my hands on Next's plush style. Whether you like to team yours with a statement stock or keep it simple with raw hem jeans and a basic tee this super easy style suits all and, with the fluffy addition, looks set to stay till the frost hits.

Here are a few of my favourites that you can shop now...

Summer's bold standard: Power prints test shoot

As I mentioned in my earlier Zephyr's Muse post, Antonio and I collaborated again, shooting another editorial quite recently featuring high end catwalk looks from a few of my all time favourite designers.

I loved how each of the looks were bold, bright and brazen in their own way: with punchy prints and vivid shades showing this summer, the bolder the better.

We had such fun working on this shoot with a truly dreamy team and are currently in the process of planning our next test shoot which I can't wait to share with y'all.

Bird of paradise dress, £145, Karen Millen

Capturing the tropical charm of summer, this fun cotton dress is perfect for summer socials. With a bold botanical print (designed by the Karen Millen atelier) it adds a bit of sunshine to the dreariest summer's day.

A great option for summer weddings (see my full wedding guest guide here) and tropical holidays, it's revived my love for the tropical trend.

Made for stay-outside-all-day days, they let you look put-together but beachy and require absolute minimal styling.

The one-piece swimsuit:

Trade in your bikini for a statement swimsuit this summer. The days where wearing a one-piece meant you were either a serious-swimmer or sun-adverse are long gone: there's been a huge resurgence for this classic style. Whether you're after a classic, chic or slightly cheeky style there's something for everyone.

This cool colbolt style from Boden is my favourite, not only does it tap into this season's scallop trend it comes with a low cut back, flattering v-neckline and a secret support bra (- which gives so much more than a bikini top ever could!)

I've been totally converted to this stylish, super flattering alternative that's perfect for summer trips to the pool or lido.

Shop the best sculpted one-pieces here, that'll show you that two (pieces) isn't always better than one...

Clockwise from top left: Scallop Swimsuit, £47.60, Boden; Tiger Print Swimsuit, £26, Topshop; Ruched cut-out Swimsuit, £28, Topshop; Malibu crush swimsuit, £102, Asos; Palm Springs Swimsuit, £28, Topshop; Tie-back Swimsuit, £22, South Beach; Red Swimsuit, £17, ASOS; Pom Pom Swimsuit, £20, Boohoo

Raw hem's and red loafers:

Necklace, Missoma; Top, Mango; Skirt, Zara; Destiny loafers, Office

You know some mornings you have an idea of what you might like to wear to work that day, or the next, and other mornings you have absolutely NO idea and madly put something together. This look was the latter: I couldn't find the top I wanted to wear and stumbled across this neglected Mango one while I was creating my mid-week floordrobe.

I'm in the process of clearing out an awful lot of stuff that I've collected in my flat over the last year, having weekly eBay sessions and subsequently finding lots of forgotten and neglected old gems along the way. I've previously blogged about my 5 tips for getting out of a style rut but I may write another with tips on how to go from a hoarding every band tee you've ever owned to decluttering and living a less cluttered life. I'm slowly finding my weekly floordrobes more and more annoying and although I hate to be that person, having a tidier room makes me happy.

In all honesty though any outfit, however I stumble across it, which let's me wear my new favourite loafers is good un.

Trending: Shirt dresses

Smart, yet sassy the shirt dress is a versatile option that’s often really underrated.

Perfect for British summers this style is airy enough for a stuffy underground commute, tailored enough for the city whilst having a contemporary costal-ready cool making it perfect for spontaneous weekend getaways.

I fell in love with this fun, geometric style from Finery: with contrasting tobacco and monochrome stripes, an asymmetric hem and optional tie belt it’s an easy way to elevate your everyday look.

Team with trainers and a tote for a day exploring, switching to block heel sandals and a cross-body bag for dinner.

Review: Benefit's Deluxe Brow collection

A couple of weeks ago I popped into John Lewis to try out Benefit's brand new Deluxe Brow Collection (there's currently a great in-store offer which you can read all about here) and was so impressed by their new product range that I picked up these five pieces.

They've quickly become my go-to brow products for my brows and I thought I'd share how I use them (in the video below 👇) and what I think to each of them...

If you suffer from uneven, patchy brows this is the product for you. Use the spoolie-brush end of this duo wand to prep your brows, brushing up and out before building up colour with a couple of strokes of the diamond shaped nib. It’s super neat and gives you a little more accuracy than others I’ve tried, and it holds on well without a primer.

Brow Zings, £24.50
This fan-favourite received not only a makeover but three new shades, a new brush and a handy pair of mini-tweezers - you really get your money’s worth with this compact. Working as well together as they do when used separately: the powder provides a great hold, whilst the tint offers a perfect touch up for someone whose brows are already quite full.

Gimme Brow, £18.50
New and improved this award-winning brow tint is now available in a brand new ‘medium’ shade, enabling you to volumize your brows whether they’re light, medium or dark! Gimme Brow is definitely one of my favourite-3 Benefit products, its super reliable and guarantees natural-looking fullness and definition even when you’re short on time or on the go. I learnt a top tip at my John Lewis brow bar consultation, that if you’re looking to build up the product wait a minute between each coat to get the thickness that you want.

High Brow Glow, £17.50
Formulated specifically for your brow bone, this is my favourite product from the new line, giving the loveliest golden glow without being too shimmery or glittery. You can blend it in with the same highlight you use on your cheeks to keep your makeup cohesive and consistent: or use it for both. If, like me, you’re in the process of re-growing hairs under your arches, it works really well at masking them whist your brows (slowly but surely) take shape.

Great for taming any unruly brows, this long-wearing invisible setting gel sculpts hairs into place effortlessly with a custom-moulded wand.

Check out my everyday brow routine, using these five products, below...

Benefit at John Lewis: Your free brow consultation & gift:

If, like me, you’re always keen to try out new products then make sure you pop into your local John Lewis (list of participating stores below) before July 22nd

You can trial Benefit's Deluxe Brow Collection (see my full review here), receive a free brow consultation and take home a mini from their brand new brow collection, when you hand over your current brow product – there’s literally never been a better time to upgrade and/or mix up your current brow routine!

I popped into the John Lewis beauty hall on Oxford Street, where one of their Benefit ‘BeneBabes’ talked me through their brow mapping service - a technical 3-step custom treatment where a trained make-up artist ‘maps’ your brow: identifying a shape that compliments both your bone structure and face shape. Before mapping mine out: I usually get my brows mapped every other time I get my eyebrows waxed, just to ensure the shape, structure and on-going re-growth is all going to plan.

The BeneBabes then introduced me to the Deluxe Brow range which contains everything a brow enthusiast or newbie could ever want or need; whether that’s a subtle easy-to-use brow tint or an entire brow kit. While Benefit have introduced some new, soon to be cult-favourites, strong fan-favourites like the award-winning Gimme Brow have been repackaged and rounded out with new shades.

This arch-specific collection of products is super comprehensive and easy to use, I was so impressed with the products used in-store that I purchased all five of them: Goof Proof Brow Pencil, Brow ZingsGimme Brow, High Brow Glow and Ready, Set, Brow (read the reviews of these in full here…)

I’ve actually re-created the brow look in my latest video, which you can watch below...

I really recommend popping into store to try out the new products and take advantage of this generous offer - which is available within the following John Lewis stores:

Birmingham, Bluewater, Brent Cross, Cambridge, Cardiff, Cheadle, Cribbs Causeway, Edinburgh, Exeter, High Wycombe, Kingston, Leicester, Liverpool, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Nottingham, Oxford Street, Peter Jones, Peterborough, Sheffield, Solihull, Southampton, Stratford, Trafford, Watford, Welwyn and York.

Levi’s tailor shop:

If, like me, you have a Pinterest board solely dedicated to dreamy customised denim then a trip to Levi’s Tailor Shop should be at the top of your to-do list.

With Tailor Shops within Levi’s stores from Birmingham to Bristol there’s never been a better time to make your jackets and/or jeans your own.

Simply head into store where the in-house Tailor’s will assist you in picking from a vast selection of patches, badges and letters. With embroidery and monogramming services available exclusively at their flag ship Regent Street store.

I popped in, with my denim moodboard to hand, ready to customise a trusty trucker jacket. I went in with one idea, changed part way through and then took the opportunity to realise my ultimate denim dream and got 'City of Angels' embroidered across the back of the jacket in an ode to my soul city. Adding my initials across the top left pocket and a cheeky little ice cream patch into the turn up of the cuff as a fun little detail.

The Tailor Shop team were super sweet, encouraging and so knowledgeable, even sharing the secret on how to hem your jeans correctly (sand paper is the key!) with me.

It's immediately become my absolute favourite jacket and I cannot recommend a visit more.

25

I turned 25 a week today and, as I was whisked away for a surprise birthday celebrations in Budapest I didn't manage to get this finished in time...

I've always felt that 25 is the final birthday where you can still feel 'young,' free and get away with being a little reckless. So when I realised that I would now qualify for the 'overs' category on X Factor I panicked.

My mum was married, with a house and me by the time she turned 25 and the closer I've got to this age the more, and more I've felt genuinely scared.

People seemed to have their full life planned by now and I'm not remotely there. I still like to spend a day watching PLL, often have cereal for dinner and still can't sew on a button.

Time seems even more valuable and important than ever before so while I'm feeling all precious about age, I thought I'd share 25 things I've learnt along my way...

1, Work hard and always be nice to people.
Even if it's sometimes very difficult to do so, the world needs all the kindness it can get - moreso now than ever.

2, It's okay that you don't look like ___insert celeb name here (my girl crush will forever be Blake Lively)_____.
They've often been blessed with truly great genes, have disposable monies leading to a comfortable lifestyle and access to: a personal trainer/stylist/nutritionist/chef/assistant/driver and airbrushing.

3, Spend your money on experiences and memories instead of things.
Pretty things are great but holidays, adventures and time with friends + family are much more rewarding.

4, Wear your freaking bikini, as regardless of whether you feel 'bikini ready' or not, you should always jump in the pool.

5, Know your worth, remember it and fight for it.

6, Always get everything in writing.
Always, always, always. There is no exception to this.

7, A tidy room/house/flat = a tidy mind.
No matter how hard it is to achieve and maintain, keep at it.

8, Read as much and as often as you can.

9, True love is really great. It honestly exists and it'll certainly surprise you.

10, Try to exercise more and be grateful that, if you wanted to go running tomorrow you could.
It's pretty hard to sprint when you're 85.

11, Some people will always let you down (ref.16).
It's bloody annoying but remember it's the ones that make it up to you that matter.

12, Don't let anyone who isn't a qualified Benefit Brow Bar professional near your eyebrows.
You'll only live to regret it.

13, Invest in a great bath oil or foam - nothing beat's a Neom bubble bath.

14, Sometimes goodbye isn't always the end.
Reconnecting with a lost friend could be the best thing you two ever did.

15, Accept that some brands come up two sizes too small or two sizes too big.
Don't over think labels, it's totally okay to go up a size (or two) to get the right fit.

16, People change and friends aren't always the friends you think or expect them to be.
Life moves on and so will you.

17, It's certainly not too late to rethink your plan.
The dream you've always had for yourself may simply not excite and engage you any more.

18, Practically all of the life advice your parents gave you will make sense now.
They were pretty much right about everything.

19, TRY.
You can achieve pretty much anything you set your mind to. Learn from your failures as it's better to attempt something than regret never trying.

20,  Accept that the majority of 'cool' celebrities and influencers are younger than you.
You've hit that age and are now 'old' to anyone 18 and under.

21, Forgive people and forget them.
Channel Lauren Conrad forever and always.

22, Things will often find a way of working themselves out.
Don't stress too much, you'll almost certainly look back at the moment you had a huge freak out/quarter life crises and laugh at how it all worked out fine in the end.

23, Hangovers honestly do get worse with age.
Soz.

24, Staying in is often so much more fun than going out.

25, Value your time with everyone dear to you.
To quote my mother "you never know how long you have." Life can be really cruel and short so enjoy it.

9 Festival Beauty Essentials:

Clockwise from left: Make up bag, £20 Orla Kiely; Sleep Plus Trouble Shooterpart of £35 set, This Works; Veil mineral primer, part of £35 set, Hourglass; Supermodel Body lotion, part of £35 set, Charlotte Tilbury; Boing Concealer, £17.50, Boots; Marvel Balm, £10, Leighton Denny; Tribal Collection nail polish in Tribal Dance, £9.60, Leighton Denny;  Tribal Collection nail polish in SkinnyDip, £9.60, Leighton Denny; Lash Power Flutter-to-Full Mascara, £15, Clinique; Fleurs de L’Himalya perfume, £9.50, Rituals

Festivals are a total highlight of the usually miserable British summer and the perfect (if not only) opportunity to try out the wildest and brightest beauty trends.

Under-eye glitter, matchy-matchy makeup and bright bold lips were hugely popular at both Coachella and Glastonbury, and look set to be festival favourites for the rest of the summer.

Whether you’re looking to experiment with a few faux-freckles, glittery golden stars or a graphic eyeliner you’ll certain to need a good base to work from: keep yours fresh by investing in great beauty essentials and don’t let the mud (and mayhem) mess with your maintenance.

I thought I’d share my much loved and multi-use summer beauty bits that have helped me through many a muddy weekend.

Infused with Hydraluronic Acid, multi-fruit acids and Vitamin E this 2-in-1 product tackles uneven tired skin overnight ensuring you wake feeling refreshed regardless of how many hours sleep you've had.

Veil mineral primer, Hourglass
Complete with SPF 15 this silky, weightless primer goes above and beyond: concealing redness, minimising the appearance of pores whilst also repelling water - keeping your makeup looking fresh despite drizzle.

Supermodel Body lotion, Charlotte Tilbury
I'm yet to encounter anything in CT's incredible product range that I've not been impressed by. I truly lovelovelove everything from her lipsticks to her masks with this lotion joining my lost list of favourites. Packed with organic Aloe Vera and Allantoin to soothe and comfort the skin, CT's lotion also contains caffeine to detox the skin tissues while a wild shitake extract protects the collagen fibres helping you to feel and look your best whilst your covered in mud.

This is my ultimate all-time favourite concealer. Nothing will ever compare. Check out my full concealer edit here to get the full lo-down on this true gem of a product.

Marvel Balm, Leighton Denny
This multi-tasking formula works wonders on everything from cuticles to lips to elbows making it an essential multi-use product that I'm never, ever without. A true marvel this non-greasy balm nourishes even the dryest skin.
Nothing brightens the dreariest of days quite like a bright manicure. I'm loving the fun, bold colours from their Tribal Collection - long lasting and chip resistant, it's sure to last you till the end of the festival.

Simply twist the barrel of this new-season offering from Clinique to dial up the volume of your mascara, letting you change your lash with your look with the ultimate ease. Resisting smudges and smears for 24 hours its a fully festival proof product.

Light, fresh and floral enough to cover any gross smells, this sweet fragrance combines cotton musk with wild orchid and Himalayan peony for the ultimate serenity. Spritz in your tent and enjoy a moment of calm before hustling to the front of the crowd for your favourite band.
