Summer Suiting

I'M WEARING

As those of you who follow me on Instagram will know, I'm currently in LA for the wedding of two of my dearest friends, David and Marie. I first visited them the summer that gay marriage was legalised within the US and it's been a long running joke (until the wedding) that Marie and I would elope so I could live in LA.

So, it seemed only fitting that I should pack this sharp bright white suit, just incase... she thought it was hilarious when I surprised her in it ahead of us leaving for her wedding location two days before her big day.

Sadly she chose love over my green card and I promptly changed into yoga pants and a (grey) tee - because noone other than the Bride can wear white on her wedding weekend. Duh!

Jokes aside, Summer suiting is something I've always been rather partial to. From last summer's go-to lilac suit situation to this year's sharp white short set. I have a real soft spot for top-to-toe tailoring and & Other Stories has become my one-stop destination with sharply cut pieces for under £50 and £100.

Whether you're into a long or short twinset or prefer a more subtle and singular look there are endless options across the high street so you can suit up in a way that suits you best. With brides option for a modern white suit for their big day and wedding guests layering a sharply cut blazer over their floral dresses this summer there's never been a better time to invest.

Try wearing your blazer with jeans, trainers and a simple white or grey tee to brunch or opt for shorts and sliders for summer meetings. Sundae shades might still be popular but optic white is still my favourite.

The Best of Reformation

Kiernan Dress, Reformation

This was truly a week of firsts, not only did I finally make it to The Little Market (read all about it here) I managed to visit Reformation.

Typically, this aligned with the same week the dreamy LA-bases brand launched on Net-a-Porter - opening up the label and removing the worry of those dreaded importation fees.

Regardless of this I, of course, tried everything on in-store and had such fun using their innovative in-changing room order system.

Crafted from sustainably-sourced fabrics everything about Reformation's process, from fabrics to factory emissions is planet-focussed and friendly. Founder Yarl Afalo's ethos is to "make killer clothes that don't kill the environment."

Designed to withstand seasonal trends there's something so innately chic about each piece that makes them endlessly versatile - whether you're spending the day at the beach, heading to a spring garden party of a friend's summer wedding you'll reach for your Reformation gem season after season and year after year.

Look for pieces detailed with Reformation's signature shirred bodice, like my Kiernan Dress, which is cut for a flattering bustier-inspired fit and  fitted with a shirred back panel for a flexible and supportive fit. I loved the ditsy floral print and playful ruffled trims.

Seventeen Straw Totes To Tote This Summer

Straw totes, from a selection at The Little Market, Pacific Palisades store

This week I finalllly made it to The Little Market - Lauren Conrad's ethical fair trade not-for-profit brand - pop up in Pacific Palisades. It was my first time to the area and oh-my its beautiful.

Unsurprisingly everything in store was perfectly curated with the labels signature brass candles poured by refugee women and, blush and gold beaded bracelets handmade by survivors of domestic abuse, line the shelves. I particularly loved the gift boxes- the Casablanca and Fiesta were my favourites and I feel so inspired to create my own for friends dinner parties in the future.

However the perfect straw totes completely stole my heart. I'm obsessed - whether woven or wicker I'm completely besotted. I carried my go-to from last summer to the airport with me as it's so easy to carry both my everyday essentials and the pieces I collect throughout my day within.

The easiest way to make an everyday outfit feel that little more summery I've built up a little assortment of styles over the last few years and wear in rotation throughout Spring whether I'm away or just on errands in London. A staple each season you can easily tote yours to everything from a picnic in the park to a pool party.

I’ve compiled an edit of the best holiday bags which have summer written (quite literally in some cases) all over them! Available in all shapes and styles, these these playful styles are perfect for packing in all your essentials: roomy enough to fit your beach towel, sunblock and book whilst abroad, or, jacket and umbrella when home.
