Review: Maison Margiela Replica

Beach Walk, Maison Margiela Replica at John Lewis

It might be -2 outside but the smell of summer doesn't need to be far off thanks to Maison Margiela's latest fragrance collection, 'Replica' and, my new favourite scent: Beach Walk.

Designed to evoke the positive emotions and images that reflect and generate our personal memories Maison Margiela's 'Replica' collection features 10 unique eau de toilettes which remind the wearer of memorable times, places, trips and people. Embracing the beautiful nostalgia of fragrance in the most romantic of fashions.

Fresh yet radiant Beach Walk, contains notes of Lemon, Bergamot, Pink Pepper and Ylang Ylang it reminds me of my yearly trips to Cornwall: learning to surf (badly) on Fistral beach, summer romances and eating ice creams with my Grandparents on Crantock beach. Cornwall and cornish beaches will always hold a special place in my heart and, thanks to this lovely little fragrance I now have a fresh 'sun-kissed' scent to keep me company in London.

As you can tell my love of fragrances comes from more than just their lovely notes, but also the memories they evoke. A scent has the beautiful ability to escort you back to a particular moment, whether that's a particular holiday, a great date or a person - and help you recall those memories and lovely little moments with a little more clarity.

Maison Margiela have truly created a special concept here with each of the 10 fragrances telling a little story themselves with individual 'scent profiles' to take the wearer back to a moment. With each 100ml bottles label providing a 'scent memory,' description, Provenance, period of time and the intended gender of the fragrance - which is such a lovely and special concept.

Minimal, with a wonderful simplicity each bottle is effortlessly luxurious with a covetable cool following each - they'd make such a sweet valentines gift! Whilst the summery, feminine 'Beach Walk' fragrance is undoubtedly my personal favourite there are some great options for guys - Jazz Club and At The Barbers are two of my boyfriend's personal faves. Clean yet crisp they both denote a strong yet subtle, woody warmth, which is always welcome - especially over the winter months winter.
