A long-term staple in everyone’s wardrobe, the classic white
shirt has received a major makeover for SS16. With Erdem, Marc Jacobs and
Lanvin updating the basic button-down with ruffled peplums, jewel-embellished
collars and loose-fitting styles respectively. With the high street following
suit offering playful and statement styles it’s the first time I’ve ever truly
been excited about buying a new white shirt.
I had been eyeing up this fluted sleeve style from my dearest M&S, but I instead spotted this dreamy H&M number while on my lunch break
and hastily headed to the tills. The contemporary combination of overtly oversized cuffs make
it not only a talking point purchase but something that’s super easy to dress
up and down. It’s an ideal style to wear year-round, wear to the office with
tailored trousers and pointed pumps, switching to distressed denim and trainers
for the weekend.
